Padyak Pinoy Tour of Champions set for May 8-15 2009

The much awaited multi-stage road cycling race for the Summer Season, Padyak Pinoy, is set to reel off starting May 8-15, 2009 with starting point in Taguig City, Metro Manila.

The eight-day race, dubbed as the Tour of Champions will feature the country’s veteran as well as emerging road cyclist from around the country.

Fifteen (15) teams composed of only 5 cyclist per team as deliberately designed to allow the team members better coordination and more effective communications among themselves and strategize their winning formula per stage.

Tanduay once again keeps the Race alive by being this year’s Presentor. Meanwhile more sponsors have emerged particularly SMART who has developed its expanded sports program to include cycling. Air21 continues the tradition with its major sponsorship, while a host of other supporters such as WOW Magic Sing, Columbia Sports, Mail and More and a host of others promise to make this coming race something to watch out for.

Mr. Bert Lina, former President of Philcyling, expressed optimism that with this Tour of Champion, not only will we see new faces but a more united effort among cycling groups, race organizers, and other sport sponsors to achieve a performance worthy of bringing the Philippines more awards in the future.

The Padyak Pinoy Tour of Champions Race this May will bring the cyclists to the provinces of Pampanga, Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Benguet and Baguio City.

Padyak Pinoy’s Trademark stage the “ Ocho- Ocho” in Baguio City will once againg prove to be the most challenging of all eight stages.

Awarding ceremonies will be held in Baguio City in the evening of May 15, 2009, where major sponsors and other provincial and local officials are expected to attend.
